Losing weight is a science, it takes a little understanding of how your body works and what it needs. Once you’ve grasped this concept, you’ll find it’s a matter of juggling a few things to achieve the desired effect. That is what you eat, when you eat and how much exercise you’re getting.

So you want to lose some weight, do you have a target in mind or do you just want to see what you can achieve? The benefits of weight loss goes a lot further than just looking good. I have written a few posts about losing weight because it’s such a popular subject and with a new fad popping up weekly. It’s not easy to find the best weight loss diet! OK, what is the best weight loss diet? Taking a look at what is around at the moment, I would say that the best diet is the Mediterranean diet.
The Mediterranean Diet.
I have chosen this diet because it consists of very healthy ingredients and promotes a healthy lifestyle. The diet is based on the Mediterranean, the specific islands are Italy, Crete and Greece. Their diets are based on what I would call the good stuff, by this I mean fish, olive oil and nuts. Such is the quality of their food and its preparation that heart disease and obesity in these countries are very low. I would also like to add that Italy boasts a very large population of older folk, which is a big testimony to their diets and the health benefits it provides, if eaten on a regular basis.
The benefits of a good diet, is good health and longevity. If you can achieve weight loss without dieting, then you’ve cracked the secret to losing weight naturally. A new diet will be invented on a weekly basis, some diets will stand the test of time. I believe the Mediterranean diet is one of the best. What is the best weight loss diet and why does it work? The answer to this question is simple, eat well, take regular exercise and reap the benefits. A quick look at the some food types they eat would be a great place to start.
One of the types of food, that’s eaten on a daily basis is fish. Fish is a big favourite of mine, it’s very low in fats and the fats it does contain is known as the good fats IE omega-3. This is medically known to be good for maintaining a healthy heart.
What is the best weight loss diet.
I have written about diets before, but I have never chosen a diet that I would say is the best! My reason behind this is that everyone is different and I believe you should be given a choice. Hopefully, you would make your own decision on what as been presented to you. The Mediterranean diet does contain a lot of ingredients that I love, so giving it a positive endorsement is going to be easy.
What does a diet mean? – Good health and longevity.
In a nutshell a diet means losing weight by monitoring what you eat. This usually means eating a balanced meal, that’s low in unhealthy fats, but contains all the nutrients that your body requires to keep it healthy. This will enable you to perform your daily tasks. The calories your meals contains should be relevant to your gender, and the amount of energy that you expend during your daily chores. The basic guideline is that men should consume 2500 and women should consume 2000 calories.
The key to a sustainable weight loss diet is to have a good balance between what you eat, the amount of exercise you get and the amount of calories you consume. Making whole fruits and vegetables a key part of your daily meals, would be good practice.
What should a Mediterranean diet contain.
If you’re a fan of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and fish then you’re going to be in heaven with this type of diet. The benefits of a Mediterranean diet is quite amazing. I believe we should all eat to live and eat sensibly and by doing so you’ll lose weight. Trying to lose weight by eating nothing, on a regular basis, isn’t a diet. That is known as starvation and is not a healthy way to lose weight!
So a typical Mediterranean breakfast would contain:
- Olives.
- Grapes.
- Feta cheese.
- Tomatoes.
- Cucumber.
- Radishes.
- Humus.
- Herbs.
- Olive oil.
- Wraps.
- Eggs.
- Seeds.
