Today I’m going to be talking about how to lose weight after 50. This is something we’ll all need to know. Our bodies change as we get older, our joints become stiffer, our muscles wither and our metabolism slows down. These subtle changes can have a great impact on our lifestyles. There’s a few things we can do to try, which will enable us to keep moving and continue enjoying the things we like to do.

I have a very strong belief that you simply can’t fight nature. We are born as babies who need to rely up on our mothers to feed and change us. This is a stage of life that we all will go through, it cannot be avoided.

Without going through the various stages to adulthood, I’ll get straight to the point, which is we will all get older, slower and so on. This is nature’s way and Mother Nature will have her way!

So, sticking to, how to lose weight after 50 and my belief of not fighting Mother Nature, what is the solution? The only way forward which will allow you to achieve your weight loss goal is a simple one. We need to learn not only to work with Mother Nature but we also need to learn to work with our bodies.

Do remember we have limitations, the very same limitations we had as a child and we need to identify these weaknesses and learn how to work with them.

So, let’s take a good look at ourselves and take an in-depth look at our aging body. Have you heard the saying, “You reap what you sow”?

I’m sure you have and this saying is very important, let me explain why! We want to know how to lose weight after 50 but the challenge really started many years ago!

As we age losing weight becomes harder because of our metabolism but if had lived a life full of exercise, good healthy choices and moderation, then the stages to getting older and the related symptoms are less felt, hence, “we reap what we sow.”

  • Skin – Our skin will become thinner, dry and we’ll get wrinkles.
  • Bones – Will shrink, lose density and become brittle.
  • Heart – Will need to work harder due to arteries and veins stiffening, which will make blood flow harder to achieve and create a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

These are a few inevitable things that is or will take place inside our bodies. We can take certain steps to improve things and in doing so achieve our diet, weight loss and health.

How to diet after 50 – Eat well.

Reaching the age of 50 is a great achievement and shouldn’t be put under stress by a diet. To lose weight after the age of 50 your focus should be on what you eat and when you eat.

It’s a fact you can lose weight by consuming a majority of your calories before 3pm! I would advise anyone who wants to learn how to lose weight after 50 to adapt this eating method, which should work well in conjunction with a slower metabolism.

Life is for living and as such you should strife to keep bad habits to a minimum.  These habits will cause heart issues, cardiovascular problems, liver disease and weight gain, which is the least of your problems.

How to exercise after 50 – Know your limitations.

Exercise is important to your well being but as you age it requires a very subtle approach, to achieve our goal, without causing any health issues. The best exercises that are recommended for the over 50’s depending on your health is swimming, walking and meditation, which is great in combating stress. Obviously your chosen exercise will depend on your health.

Swimming puts less stress on weaker joints or bones and is suitable for the over 50’s or you can go for a walk. It doesn’t matter which way you choose to exercise, the important thing is to exercise in a way that works for you.

How to maintain good health over 50 – Sensible exercise.

So, how do you see yourself maintaining a good a level of fitness at 50 years old and above. Well you have read about how to lose weight after 50 and you’ve watched the video too. But you’re still not sure. Maintaining a good health is going to take a combination of things. These are:

  • A good exercise routine.
  • Eating well. (Balanced meal plan)
  • Smoking. (This should be removed)
  • Alcohol. (Moderate only, if any at all)
  • Sleep. Get a good amount of rest per night.

These are the basic things that should be addressed to improve health and increase longevity. Choose a routine that works for you and one that is easily maintained, which will lead to effortless results.
